Internal policies
Internal policies are institutionalized decisions that are directly related to the governance of all social, political, and economic issues and activities within the borders of national states or supranational polities such as the EU. They can be contrasted with the foreign/external policies. Internal policies cover a wide range of areas, including business, education, energy, healthcare, law enforcement, money and taxes, natural resources, social welfare, and personal rights and freedoms. In the IIR, we go beyond this internal/external divide to look at how such internal policies are being shaped by international relations and the seemingly external institutions and policies of global governance.
