Mark Galeotti Associate Researcher
Mark Galeotti is an Associate Researcher at the Centre for Europen Politics. He studied at Robinson College, Cambridge (MA) and the London School of Economics (PhD). He is a lecturer and writer on transnational crime and Russian security affairs. He is an Honorary Professor at the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies and a Senior Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). He has also previously been a Professor of Global Affairs at New York University, head of the History department at Keele University in the UK, an adviser at the British Foreign Office and a visiting professor at MGIMO (Moscow), Charles University (Prague) and Rutgers (Newark), as well as a visiting fellow with the ECFR and the EUI and head of the Centre for European Security at the IIR. He is also the director of the consultancy firm Mayak Intelligence. He is an expert in modern Russia, Russian domestic and foreign policy, Russian security affairs, Russian and Soviet history as well as transnational and organised crime, intelligence and covert operations and military and non-military security challenges.
