China is irresistibly moving into the position of the worldʼs largest economy and a geopolitical challenger of the West in the competition for the position of the worldʼs dominant power. The connection of Beijingʼs economic agenda with multilateral diplomacy in the Belt and Road Initiative format and the network of economic interdependencies between China and the rest of the world have caused the Asian power to be perceived as a controversial partner in Europe as well. The IIR research team continues the tradition of monitoring the dynamics of the relations between China and the European Union, and also the relations in the subregional 17+1 platform, of which the Czech Republic is a member country as well, and contributes to cultivating the level of the domestic Czech debate on these topics.
