Jan Švec researcher

Jan Švec is a researcher at the Institute of International Relations Prague. His research interests include theory of authoritarianism, politics of China, impact of modern technology on governance, and human rights. He comments on the topics in the media. 

He is a member of the Asia Pacific Unit at the Centre for the Study of Global Regions at the institute.  

At the Prague University of Economics and Business, he acquired a PhD focused on the impact of information and communication technologies on authoritarianism. He holds a master’s degree in Political Science and Chinese Studies and bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and International Studies from the same university. He was a visiting researcher at Stockholm University and conducted study stays at Beijing Language and Culture University, Zhejiang University and Far East Federal University in Vladivostok. He teaches at Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies at the Czech Technical University in Prague.
