The International Visegrad Fund: An anchor of Central European public value

Policy
paper

The International Visegrad Fund (IVF) plays a pivotal role in fostering cooperation within the Visegrád Group, strengthening civil society, and enhancing neighbourly relations in Central Europe. In their policy paper, our researcher Daniel Šitera and his colleague Katarzyna Kochlöffel outline two possible scenarios for the Fund’s more effective fulfilment of its mission.

Both scenarios assess the coherence between the IVF’s financial capacities and its objectives/activities. In the negative scenario, the financial capacities and the number of objectives would remain unchanged despite the challenge of inflation, thereby undermining the Fund’s mission. In the positive scenario, the financial capacities would be increased to accommodate inflation, while the number of objectives would be pragmatically fine-tuned. This approach would enhance the coherence and effectiveness of the Fund’s
mission, enabling it to address the most pressing issues of the V4 cooperation and Central European developments.
