The Third Czech National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security
paper
In an era of increasing security threats and global instability, the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda is more crucial than ever. The Czech Republic’s upcoming Third National Action Plan (NAP) on WPS presents a key opportunity to enhance the country’s commitment to gender-responsive security policies, both domestically and internationally. This policy paper by our researcher Míla O’Sullivan and her colleague Kateřina Krulišová provides an in-depth analysis of the implementation of the plan and outlines critical recommendations for the future.
The policy paper highlights the need for higher political prioritization, dedicated funding, stronger regional leadership, and an intersectional approach to address emerging security challenges—particularly in the context of Russia’s war in Ukraine and its gendered impacts.
By strengthening participation, gender mainstreaming, prevention and protection, and assistance and recovery, the Third Czech WPS NAP can position the Czech Republic as a regional leader in advancing gender equality in security and peacebuilding efforts.
