Published in English but still Czech? Debating the transformation of the Czech Journal of International Relations

The Institute of International Relations Prague would like to invite you to the event entitled: 'Published in English but still Czech? Debating the transformation of the Czech Journal of International Relations'.

4. 9. 2023 (18:30)

Jazyk: English Institute of International Relations Prague, Nerudova 257/3

After more than five decades of being one of the main outlets of Czech International Relations research, the Czech Journal of International Relations transformed in 2023 into an English-only journal. While the move to English was a controversial move due to historical tradition and the slow disappearance of venues for debating International Relations in the Czech language, it opened the journal to new authors and audiences. This roundtable aims to discuss the historical achievements of the journal and its role in the Czech discipline of International Relations as well as discuss its vision for the future and touch on some of the deeper underlying issues regarding the role of research in smaller national languages.

Based loosely on the recent forum published in the Czech Journal of International Relations, the roundtable will bring together speakers affiliated currently or in the past with the journal. The event will be followed by a glass of wine and refreshments.
