Call for Application: EU NPDC Internship at the IIR

The Institute, founded and affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, moreover provides policy analysis and recommendations that shape the decision making process at the national and EU levels. The third pillar of the Institute’s mission is to stimulate and broaden the horizons of expert, intellectual and public debates on foreign policy and global issues. Located in the historical centre of Prague, its venue and library provide a stimulating environment for scholars and students of international relations.

The IIR as a member of the European network of independent non-proliferation think-tanks is opening the call for applications within the EU Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Consortium internship programme. The duration of internship is 3 months (13 weeks) and it should be completed by May 2020.

The EU NPDC can provide limited subsidies (500 € / month) for a limited number of students for the duration of the internship. Interns from the EU as well as non-EU countries should be master students, PhD students, post-docs, junior diplomats or journalists with a proven interest in arms control, non-proliferation and disarmament. Applicants should have a completed university Bachelor degree (as a minimum).

The intern is expected to conduct research-related tasks and produce a final essay of minimum 20 pages.

• Cover Letter specifying expectations of the applicant regarding the internship as well as her/his preferred research topic

The closing date for applications is November 30, 2019. Selected candidates shall be invited for interviews.

The expected start date is January 1, 2020. It may be negotiated based on individual circumstances.
